About me

My name is Brigitte Corthay and I'm really exited to start the new project in my life.

I crossed the Yoga path a few times already, earlier in my life. It's not been so long now, though, that Yoga is a important part of my everyday life. Why now? I don't know, maybe because now is the right time.

Since my childhood, I never chose the straight, more conventional path, I always liked to take the small winding roads. I was lucky enough to have parents whose philosophy was that whatever our options for our future, our happiness and wellbeing was the priority. Both of them, each one in their way, made the world a better place to be, my mother as a therapist and my father as a "non-conventional priest ", who happened to be a very strong Human Rights activist. I'm so grateful for all that they shared and transmitted to me.

At 15, I left Switzerland to live a year in an American family (New York ) : I wanted to see how we live on the other side of the ocean. Back home I finished College and graduated in languages and music. I left again, right after and headed to Greece: I loved the Ancient Greek culture, philosophy as much as it's music. As a child I lived for 4 years in South Africa and I guess that's where I got the need to connect with other cultures.

Back to Switzerland I studied music therapy and became a music therapist and I worked with elderly and special needs persons. Soon after I was blessed with two beautiful children. I decided to be a full time mother. I then opened a "musical garden" (music activities and music therapy for preschool children) as soon as my children went to school . I wanted, though, to extend these activities with many more children, not only with those who were lucky enough to have their parents interested in such activities. So... I took the option to go back to university and graduated in "Sciences de l'Education, mention enseignement " in Geneva. Since then I'm a primary school teacher in public school here in Geneva. In my class we do the usual schoolwork but we also practice music, yoga, breathing exercices, and mind focusing exercises. The results are real: every single child's school level and behavior did improve. And most of all: they love it. One day, a few years ago, one of the children asked me: "But why don't you become a yoga teacher?". Really, so why not? So back to study but here I am, a certified yoga teacher.

As long as we live we'll never stop learning and I'm eager to see what's next.
So, remember: Yoga is for EveryBody : if you can breathe you can Yoga!
